2018 was the year of laptops for thin and light games. It felt like a new category, created for a specific type of gamer who does not want to play on a desktop computer or have to carry a heavy laptop, but still needs the performance and speed of a good machine.
Dell’s Alienware line proves that this is more than a trend, and on the eve of CES 2019, the company unveiled its latest additions to the high-end gaming laptops market. Here we present briefly what you should know about each of them.
Presented by the company as “the most powerful gaming notebook in the world,” the Alienware Area-51m is designed around “Legend,” Dell’s new industrial design language. This flagship laptop promises to achieve the performance and upgrade levels that were previously only imagined in gaming computers.
In addition, the tools available in Alienware Command Center make the Alienware Area-51m accelerate the performance of its graphics and processors independently, allowing players to unleash levels of performance even higher than usual.
This laptop was manufactured with the company’s advanced thermal technology, Alienware Cryo-Tech v2.0, which optimizes component cooling and maximizes overall performance, keeping the notebook cool to the touch even with continuous use. The new Alienware m-series keyboard with 1.4 mm of travel and 4 zones of keys enabled for AlienFX RGB is backlit and sensitive to the touch in a perfect way for video games, and the HD camera adds to the experience.
It comes with the Intel Z390 desktop chipset, which makes it the first Dell laptop with the ability to support 8-core processors. It is also the first to support 2.5Gbit Ethernet networks per cable, and comes with up to 64GB of memory, a 90Wh lithium-ion battery, and a 3-sided screen with narrow bezel capable of 144Hz G-SYNC technology.
Regarding its weight and dimensions, the Alienware Area-51m weighs 3.87 Kg. (8.54 Lbs), and measures 42 x 402.6 x 410 mm. It is available in two colors with creative names: Lunar Light and Dark Side of the Moon.
ALIENWARE M15 AND M17
Alienware m15 and m17 gaming computers are the company’s thinnest laptops. Designed around the industrial design language “Epic”, they presented the concept of “thin and light” within the portfolio of gaming laptops in 2018.
Now, with its update in January of 2019, the new and renewed Alienware m15 and m17 present new options that elevate the total system performance and general visual experience that includes NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics with Max-Q design and GDDR6 memory, Intel processing Core i9-8950HK, and a 4K UHD, HDR-400 screen with 500 nits and 1 200: 1 brightness
These laptops are built with a combination of premium materials including magnesium and copper alloy, which serve as light structural components and exceptional thermal management, and are available in two colors, Epic Silver and Nebula Red. They have a weight of one little less than 5 and 6 pounds, respectively, and a design of minimum bevels. Despite being thinner and lighter, they offer greater performance with a larger screen and an optimized design.
Also, they have the Cryo-Tech cooling technology, and the new Alienware m-series keyboard with 1.4 mm of travel and 4 zones of keys enabled for AlienFX RGB and, for the first time, a numeric keypad in Alienware laptops of this size .
